Shae's Musical Background

Shae Weir (they/them) is a 29-year-old musician. As a young person, alongside the musicality of their close and extended family members, Shae attended school guitar lessons and private piano lessons which formed a strong starting point for their formal music education. At the age of 14, Shae joined St Mary's Episcopal Cathedral Choir, Glasgow, and is still a member today. Singing in a choir taught invaluable music skills such as sight-reading, basic vocal technique, harmonic understanding, and much more. Importantly, it instilled a love for choral music and singing which has shaped their career path in recent years. While focusing on singing and piano in school, Shae was also interested in learning as many instruments as possible and achieved proficiency in ukulele, drum kit, and various other percussion instruments through self-tuition.
